|1936 Packard Standard Eight Touring Sedan 1400
For someone who understands and appreciates classic ORIGINAL pre-war cars. Acquired in 1997. Has a 1997 New York State Safety Tag in windshield. Best pre-war driver I have ever owned.
Recently replaced fuel pump. Never overheats. Grille louvers still work perfectly under thermostatic control--pretty amazing. Has the charm of all 4 suicide doors--last year for Packards with four suicide doors. All four doors close with a perfect thud. I will miss that the most because it is such a constant demonstration of the quality of this magnificent original Packard. All window cranks work properly. Rock solid body and frame. NOT a concours car, but a car that presents wonderfully for an original car--very few originals could match it.
Has the original, highly desirable Goddess of Speed hood ornament. Clutch and transmission shift butter smooth. One excellent professional repaint over the faded original blue 17 yrs ago. Bijur lube system present but replaced by grease fittings. Auto choke replaced with manual. Approximately one square inch of chrome is chipped off left corner of front and rear bumpers. Excellent ORIGINAL upholstery except the front seating surface has been replaced with corduroy. Less than 100 miles on Lester Wide Whitewalls. Fabulous vacuum-assisted mechanical brakes--(better than the juice brakes on my 1937 Packard). Odometer of 78,768 miles is believed to be actual based on condition of car, but no confirming documentation is available.
